Counterfeit goods seized in Boksburg CBD

A joint operation targeting counterfeit goods in Boksburg led to the seizure of dozens of fake products on July 29. Boksburg SAPS and NorthernSouth Group (NSG) officers descended on the Boksburg CBD where they targeted three shops suspected of selling counterfeit Trust condoms and Ntsu snuff. During the raid, two of the shops were found selling suspected fake goods, but the third targeted shop was closed when the team arrived. The illegal items, worth R670 altogether, were confiscated.

A staged operation at East Rand Traders Square on May 27 to search for counterfeit goods yielded good results. Officers of Boksburg North SAPS, led by Sergeant Basani Mehale and Sergeant Martin Rikhotso, in partnership with the EMPD, JMPD as well as brand protectors were part of the operation. “Approximately 10 shops were searched while four were slapped with a fine equating to the amount of R1 000 each,” said Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Constable Justice Ramaube.
